Materials:
Approx 35 grams of D/K
1 metre of ribbon
2 buttons
4mm needles (UK-8 : USA-5)
Abbreviations:
yf = yarn forward
tog = together
Cast on 117 sts and work 8 rows in garter st.(every row knit)
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: K5, purl to last 5 sts, K5.
Repeat last 2 rows until work measures 4” (10cm ) from cast on
edge.
Next row: (buttonhole) K2, yf, K2 tog, K1, * K2 tog, K2, repeat
from * to last 8 sts, K2tog, K6(90 sts)
Next row: K5 sts *P1, K1, rep from *to last 5 sts, k5.
Keeping 5 sts at each end in garter st. rib 6 more rows.
Next row: (buttonhole) K2, yf, K2 tog, K1, P1, * K2tog tbl, P2 tog,
K1, P1, repeat from * to last 6 sts, K6.( 64 sts )
Keeping 5 sts at each end in garter st, rib 7 rows.
Next row: K5, P1, * K2 tog tbl, P2 tog, rib 4, repeat from * to last
10 sts, K2 tog tbl, P2 tog, K6 ( 50 sts )
Next row: K5, rib to last 5 sts, K5.
Next row: (ribbon holes) K1, * K1, yf, K2 tog, repeat from * to last
st, K1.
Next row: K5, purl to last 5 sts, K5.
Cast off 6 sts, knit to end.
Cast off 6 sts, K5 (including st on needle), purl to last 5 sts, K5.
Next row: K15, increase in each of the next 8 sts, knit to end of
row.(46 sts)
Next row: K5, purl to last 5 sts, K5.
Next row: Knit
Repeat last 2 rows until the hood measures 10cm from the
ribbon holes, ending with a purl row.
Cast off.
Making Up
Fold cast off sts of hood in half and sew together. Sew on
buttons and thread ribbon through ribbon holes.
